To commemorate the inauguration of the Games Criticism Prize for Underrepresented Writers, Dr Dan Golding and Jini Maxwell host a session on all things games criticism.  

From cries of killjoys to culture wars, get a potted history of games criticism, examine the different forms critical games writing can take and the role criticism plays in a creative digital ecology in this games criticism workshop. Look at the hows, and more importantly, the whys, of writing criticism of ‘lowbrow’ games as well as digital arts and media. Be guided through the stages of writing and pitching games criticism, including which publications to approach and learn about the exciting possibilities offered to aspiring critics by platforms like YouTube, Tumblr, Twitter, and Itch.
