Meat Market Hub

MKW Meat Market hub is where your imagination can run wild. Explore this iconic heritage listed building re-imagined as a space for the future where historic cobblestones meet contemporary ideas.

This is our major hub, where the majority of our walking tours will start – and where our keynote events will be held. Enjoy a snack, coffee or something a little stronger at Co-Ground cafe and bar – brought to you by Co-Ground, a social enterprise donating 100% of profits to support education, health and livelihood projects.

For our opening night event, 5 Kulin nations: sovereign knowledge, knowledge-holders from the five Kulin nations will come together for a conversation about what sovereignty means to them. A range of interactive installations including Step inside an extended reality, Biometric Dungeons & Dragons and Mapping our future knowledge landscape, invite collaboration, experimentation and consideration.

A festival of wonder isn’t complete without a magic portal. Surrounded by native greenery, follow the squeaking stones at the Meat Market Hub entrance to the maze, and weave your way inside.

Accessibility

Meat Market is committed to providing a welcoming, inclusive and accessible venue space for all events and visitors. Their services and facilities are designed to make your experience at Meat Market accessible, comfortable and enjoyable.

There are a number of event spaces at Meat Market; the Flat Floor Pavilion, Cobblestone Pavilion, Stables, Garden and Meeting Room. Several of these spaces have multiple access options, with entrance options selected at the discretion of event organisers. To see the accessibility options for each space, please view our Mobility Map.

All of Meat Market’s venue spaces are accessible and D.D.A. compliant, however, areas with cobblestone floors can be slightly bumpy due to their uneven surface.

  • Where there are non-accessible entries to any building or space, an alternative entry with wheelchair-friendly access is available.
  • All spaces feature D.D.A. compliant bathrooms.
  • Service dogs are welcome.
  • On-street disabled parking spaces are available surrounding the venue.
  • Hearing loop facilities have been installed in the Flat Floor Pavilion to enhance sound quality and eliminate background noise for people who are hard of hearing. The use of this system is at the discretion of event organisers. We recommend requesting this service from event organisers directly should your hearing be impacted.

For more information, please contact Meat Market’s team on (03) 9329 9966.
