As director of CSIRO’s Additive Manufacturing Innovation Centre, Alex oversaw the establishment of Lab 22 that provided industry access to five additive technologies: electron beam melting, laser melting, laser cladding, binder jetting and cold spray. Alex implemented the Lab 22 industry engagement program where partner companies access and learn additive technologies and also led license agreement negotiations and the associated additive manufacturing intellectual property portfolio.

Alex has developed feasibility studies, techno-economic and commercialisation readiness assessments in both an industry and research context. Alex is a known authority on additive manufacturing technologies and is frequently called upon for expert opinion on additive technologies, the global marketplace for additive manufacturing and forecasts for the additive manufacturing market.
