Mark Taylor

Dr Mark Taylor is Professor of Architecture at Swinburne University, Melbourne (Australia). His design work has been exhibited at “Royal Academy Summer Exhibition” (London), “Homo Faber: Modelling Ideas” (Melbourne Museum 2007), and “Abundant’ (Venice Architecture Biennale 2008).

Mark convened (with Gini Lee) the international symposium ‘Interior Spaces in Other Places’ (2010) and ‘Flow: A Conference in Two Parts’ (Kingston, London 2011 and Melbourne, Australia 2012) with Penny Sparke, Pat Brown and Gini Lee. He was a director of Interior Design/Interior Architecture Educators Association (2009-2012) and is editorial board member for ‘Designing Interiors’ (Lund Humphries) and the journal ‘Interiors: Design, Architecture, Culture.’

He is co-author “Moments of Resistance” (Archadia 2002), editor “Surface Consciousness” (Wiley 2003), co-editor (with Julieanna Preston) “Intimus: Interior Design Theory Reader” (Wiley 2006), editor “Interior Design & Architecture: Critical & Primary Sources,” 4 vols. (Bloomsbury 2013), and recently edited (with Anca Lasc and Georgina Downey) “Designing the French Interior: The Modern Home and Mass Media” (Bloomsbury 2015). He has book chapters in “Diagrams of Architecture” (Wiley 2010), “Performance Fashion and the Modern Interior” (Berg 2011), “Domestic Interiors” (Bloomsbury 2013), “Oriental Interiors” (Bloomsbury 2015), and “Architectures of Display” (Bloomsbury 2017).
