If knowledge is power, then the Hub is your personal charger.
Melbourne Knowledge Week is inviting you to cure your curiosity, supercharge your imagination and move your motivation to actively shape our world. This year MKW worked with industrial design agency Moth Design to transform North Melbourne’s Meat Market into the 2019 Melbourne Knowledge Week Festival Hub.
Hungry for the future? Utopian Foods café and bar brought to you by Social Food Project and Worksmith Drinks Lab is serving you year 02050 and beyond, with insects, algae, vegan protein and regenerative meats. Choose from the exclusive MKW drinks menu crafted by World Class Global Bartender of the Year 2018, Orlando Marzo, or enjoy a coffee brought to you by local favourites Market Lane, St David Dairy and La Marzocco.
For the culinary connoisseur, our Hub Restaurant is back, offering four exclusive dinner experiences: a sustainable seafood showcase, a speculative futures feast, a meal made entirely of invasive species, and dinner with Aboriginal novelist Bruce Pascoe.
Deep dive into a virtual version of Melbourne in the Melbourne City DNA exhibit (which is also live printing a 3D map of our city throughout MKW), or explore week-long installations like ConseQuest, MKW’s very own ‘so, what if’ game.
The Hub is your destination for cornerstone events including our Opening Night event, Duet Live with Tim Shiel, The Minefield live broadcast featuring Waleed Aly and Scott Stephens, and our Keynote Address by Raina Kumra. Have your say about the future of democracy, explore how to make our city more liveable for all, speculate on Melbourne in 02050, or expand your mind with a day of discovery for children and the young at heart.
As dusk falls, head to the Courtyard for Sunset Talks with Madeleine Dore – turn off your phone, take a seat by the fire pit and dive into issues of the day.
In the evening, you can enjoy the atmospheric soundscapes of Louis Battour on Tuesday and Friday and Helen Bower on Thursday as they perform live electronic music.
This May, join thinkers, innovators, explorers, the curious and the carefree at Melbourne Knowledge Week, and create a new future, together.
